LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Work is officially underway on a popular Mt. Charleston trail that has been closed since 2023.
Crews are rebuilding the Mary Jane Trail and repairing the Trail Canyon and Mary Jane parking lots after Tropical Storm Hilary caused major damage last summer.

Officials say work will continue through the 2026 season and visitors are urged to stay out of closure and construction zones and away from heavy machinery.
This includes the Upper Bristlecone Trail area, parts of Upper Kyle Canyon near the Mt. Charleston Wilderness boundary, and portions of Echo Road, along with land located within 100 feet of the trails.
The Forest Service says the restrictions are meant to keep the public safe around active work sites. The closure order runs from May 14, 2025, through May 9, 2027. Violations can result in fines or jail time.
For now, Mary Jane Falls and Trail Canyon will remain closed until repairs are finished and the area can safely reopen.
