LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Early voting kicked off over the weekend. Voters can go to a polling location or mail in a ballot before Election Day on June 9.

Tara Anderson is running for Congress in District 3.

Anderson said she is a second generation Nevadan. She said she has spent her career in land and economic development, negotiating on behalf of business and industry and navigating government regulation.

Background and qualifications

Anderson said she thinks she is the best candidate for the congressional seat because she deeply understands Nevada.

“Nobody knows and loves Nevada more than I do,” Anderson said. “If you’re going to come forward and espouse that you’re prepared to advocate for our state, you need to first deeply understand it.”

Anderson said she has spent her career in land and economic development, negotiating on behalf of business and industry. She said she has experience navigating the dynamics of government regulation.

Key issues

Anderson said the issues she thinks are most pressing are water, cost of living and access to home ownership.

“I think everybody needs renewed access to the American dream,” Anderson said.

Anderson said she is prepared to solve for those issues.

Call for change in Congress

Anderson said this is a pivotal moment. She said people deserve to have renewed confidence in elected officials.

“People deserve to have renewed confidence in the people that we’ve asked and entrusted our votes with, to represent us and show the reverence for the fact that you are there to advocate for the people,” Anderson said.

Anderson said Congress is not a country club and needs to be shaken up.

“I’m fully prepared to do that,” Anderson said. “I have the horsepower and the expertise to represent Nevada and show that I’m worthy of their votes.”
