LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz has been named the American League Player of the Month for May.
It’s the fourth monthly honor of Kurtz’s career after previously winning AL Rookie of the Month in June 2025 and then capturing both Player and Rookie of the Month in July 2025.
The last A’s player to win AL Player of the Month was catcher Shea Langeliers in September 2025.

Kurtz put up huge numbers in May, leading the majors with 26 RBIs, according to the MLB. He also finished tied for first in OPS, second in on-base percentage, and ranked among the league leaders in runs, hits, batting average and walks.
The reigning 2025 AL Rookie of the Year also reached base safely in 48 straight games from April 3 to May 25, matching Mark McGwire’s 1996 mark for the longest single-season on-base streak in A’s history, MLB officials say.
The A’s will spend next week in Las Vegas, hosting the Milwaukee Brewers for a three-game series beginning Monday, June 8, followed by a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies starting Friday, June 12, at Las Vegas Ballpark.
