LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The widow of two-time NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Busch has shared her first statement since his passing.
NASCAR announced Busch’s passing on May 21 with a statement that read, “We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport’s greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old.”

Busch had been hospitalized with a severe illness, which was later revealed to be “severe pneumonia [that] progressed into sepsis,” his family revealed in a statement.
Racing fans and the NASCAR community honored his memory through moments of silence at racing events and memorials that popped up at speedways across the country, including the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Samantha Busch, his wife, wrote in a social media post, “As a family, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you.
“The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you,” the post reads.
A private memorial service for Busch’s close friends and family was held earlier this week, according to FOX Sports, and a public memorial in Charlotte, North Carolina is still being planned.
Samantha Busch post concluded, “Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him. We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful.”
