LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — El Cortez Hotel & Casino is celebrating its 85th anniversary this summer with a hotel package that includes a $50 gas gift card, along with new gaming promotions and loyalty-club perks, according to a press release.
The downtown Las Vegas property, founded in 1941, says it is the only continuously operating casino listed on the National Register of Historic Places, officials said.
The promotion headlining the summer lineup is the “Fuel Up on Fun” package, available now through Thursday, Sept. 3. The offer includes a $50 gas gift card and discounted room rates for stays of two to seven nights, according to the casino.

The package must be booked through the El Cortez website. Guests also must be members of Club Cortez, the casino’s loyalty program, to redeem the offer. Membership is free and can be added during booking, the property said.
El Cortez also is rolling out a slate of gaming promotions aimed at rewarding players throughout the summer, as the casino highlights its expanded gaming floor and old-school Las Vegas feel.
Among the promotions:
- Free Play Frenzy runs through June and July. Players can earn $10 to $1,000 in free slot play by accumulating 6,000 slot base points or $50 in comp dollars at table games. Players can qualify up to 10 times per day.
- We Produce Winners drawings are held Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Each drawing includes one $500 free slot-play prize, five $200 prizes and 10 $100 prizes.
- Wednesday Free Play Madness awards entries through rated play Monday through Wednesday, with one ticket issued per point earned. Weekly drawings are held at 6:15 p.m., selecting up to 22 winners for $100 in free slot play.
