He told delegates Democrats are “fired up” and promised to take on what he calls an affordability crisis, pointing to rising costs. Ford says he wants to work with lawmakers in Carson City to “put Nevada families first” and offer a different direction from Governor Joe Lombardo.

Ford contrasts vision with Lombardo

“This affordability crisis that we’re living in, with gas prices being too high, groceries being too high, health care costs being too high, housing being too high,” Ford said.

Ford says the contrast between himself and Lombardo is simple.

“On the one hand, Lombardo lies down all the time. On the other hand, I’m always standing up,” Ford said. “And that’s standing up for the people, ensuring that we are able to not just survive in this state, but to thrive.”

Ford also highlighted other Democrats on the ticket, including Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro, the Democratic nominee for attorney general, and Dr. Tia Mathis-Coleman.

National Democrats attend convention

The convention featured national figures, including Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock from Georgia.

Ford says Nevada represents an opportunity to flip the governor’s seat.

“There’s excitement, frankly, not just in our state, but across the nation, because Nevada is the opportunity to flip this governor’s seat blue, and everyone’s ready to make that happen,” Ford said.

Lombardo touts record on primary day

On primary day, Governor Lombardo visited polling locations to thank volunteers and encourage voter turnout.

Lombardo says he wants to remove voter apathy and remind people their votes matter.

“We’ve accomplished a magnanimous amount of work through the last four years,” Lombardo said. “And education, expanding upon the economy and the jobs front, healthcare, and public safety.”

Lombardo says his administration is now working intensively on housing.

“And now we are working intensively on housing, affordable, attainable housing, for all the members of the great state of Nevada,” Lombardo said. “And we’re running again because we’ve still got a lot of work to do in that space.”

Voters will decide between Ford and Lombardo’s visions for Nevada when they cast their ballots in November.
