LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Duane Davis is due in court Tuesday morning for the latest hearing ahead of his murder trial for the death of rapper Tupac Shakur.

Davis is accused of ordering the murder of the west coast rapper in 1996, after his nephew was involved in a fight with Shakur and others inside the lobby of MGM Grand.

According to court documents, the hearing is intended to address multiple motions filled in the last month, one of which involving an effort to exclude any evidence from Davis’ previous police interviews and his tell-all book, “Compton Street Legend.” Both include various confessions and claims from Davis that his attorneys argue was protected by a previous agreement with LAPD.

Prosecutors say since Davis disclosed those details in violation of the agreement, the two piece of evidence are crucial in painting his role as the “shot-caller” for the South Side Crips who ordered Shakur’s murder in 1996.

Davis’ trial date is currently set for August 10. Following this hearing, he is due back in court for another status check on Tuesday, June 30.
