The district said flash flooding is dangerous and often deadly, and raising public awareness is important to preventing unnecessary injuries and fatalities.

The Clark County Regional Flood Control District is a planning and funding agency that provides solutions to flooding challenges in Clark County. The district said it has constructed about 722 miles of channels and storm drains, along with 113 detention basins, to move stormwater through communities safely.

The district said those infrastructure projects protect nearly 2.4 million residents and more than 45 million annual visitors from flooding dangers.

The news conference is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. at the National Weather Service-Las Vegas office.
