LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Clark County Family Services and CASA Las Vegas will host a free community information event June 24 for residents interested in supporting children in foster care.
“Two Paths, One Purpose: Foster & CASA Info Night” is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the CASA Connections Center, 212 S. Jones Blvd.

The event is designed to help community members learn how they can support children in foster care by becoming foster caregivers or Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers. CASA volunteers represent children’s best interests in court and permanency planning.
On any given day, more than 3,000 babies, children and teenagers are in foster care in Clark County, according to the release. Many are siblings, some have special needs, and all have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect.
“Every child in foster care deserves a stable, caring adult in their corner,” said Stacie Dastrup, Family Services director. “This event is an opportunity for our community to hear directly from people doing this critical work and to find the path that fits their life.”
Attendees will hear from a panel of experienced foster caregivers and CASA volunteers who will share perspectives on the challenges and rewards of their roles.
The event will also include guidance on how to begin the process of becoming a foster parent or CASA volunteer.
“There is no single path to making a difference for a child in foster care,” said Eighth Judicial District Court Chief Judge Jerry Wiese. “We want anyone who has felt the calling to help to come, ask questions and leave with the confidence to take that next step.”
The event is hosted by Champions for CASA at the CASA Connections Center. No prior experience or commitment is required to attend.
