LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Henderson Police Department is reminding residents about a program designed to help keep people safe during online purchase exchanges.
The department has designated two Internet Sales Exchange Zones, clearly marked parking spaces for person-to-person transactions involving items bought online.
One is located at the North Police Substation, while the other is at the West Police Substation.
Officials say the spaces are intended to help deter fraud and reduce the risk of scams, while still protecting citizens’ privacy during legal, private exchanges.

Both police substation hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Officials note that officers and other department personnel cannot assist with transitions, and property is not allowed to be dropped off or left unattended in the spaces.
Officials also remind the community of the following tips when making transactions in person:
- Avoid going alone to make an exchange with a stranger
- Let your family and/or friends know the time and place of your intended exchange and any information regarding the other person
- Avoid giving strangers your personal information, including your address, Social Security number, etc.
- Avoid exchanges at night if possible, even in the designated zone
- Avoid remote or out of the way places for exchanges and be wary of persons who insist on secluded locations
