LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A captain with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has been recommended by CCSD’s superintendent to be the new chief of police.

Clark County School District Superintendent Jhone Ebert announced the recommended appointment of Jeff Clark.

“Captain Clark’s leadership spans beyond his current agency to include work with many police jurisdictions and first responder agencies throughout Southern Nevada,” Ebert’s announcement says.

Clark has a law enforcement career spanning 21 years. The announcement highlights his work as a detective, sergeant and Southeast Area Command captain. He also has experience with K-9, patrol and special investigations.

Clark also served as a public information officer on 1 October.

Ebert says he also worked to create a threat-assessment and response framework for K-12 campuses as part of Metro’s School Violence Initiative.

“I am recommending Captain Clark to the Board of School Trustees because I know he will serve our 280,000 students, 44,000 employees, and more than 200 CCSD Police Department officers and personnel with the highest level of professionalism and integrity,” Ebert said.

Ebert’s recommendation of Clark will go before the CCSD Board of Trustees for approval on July 1. He would replace former CCSD Police Chief Henry “Mike” Blackeye. He announced his retirement in March this year.
