LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Three hikers were rescued near Turtlehead Peak in Red Rock on Saturday after they went off trail and ran out of water, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue.
The hikers had been on the trail since 6 a.m. when they called 911 around 4 p.m. after losing their route and becoming unable to safely continue or return.

BLM Rangers responded by ground while LVMPD’s AIR4 searched for the hikers using GPS coordinates provided by the subjects. AIR4 located the hikers and relayed their position to rescue personnel.
AIR1 then responded to the scene and inserted rescue personnel SR2 and SR9 via hoist.
All three hikers were found to be dehydrated and suffering from varying degrees of heat exhaustion. They were extracted one by one via hoist, transported to the BLM helipad and transferred to a ground ambulance.
