LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino seeks County approval for new live theater plans as construction on the guitar-shaped tower keeps strumming along.
The proposal will be on Wednesday’s agenda for the Clark County Zoning Commission.
Documents submitted by the property and representatives to Clark County’s Comprehensive Planning department show a proposed “West Theater,” which would sit behind the guitar tower west of Las Vegas Boulevard. Blueprints show 178,850 square feet, 2,000 seats, 5 levels and a karaoke room on the second floor.
“Essentially, it’s just additional entertainment amenities for resort hotel guests and visitors to the property to enjoy. Nothing related to the approved landscaping will change,” a spokesperson for the proposal told the Paradise Township board on June 30.
Live entertainment continues to be a draw and success for Las Vegas, according to Dr. Amanda Belarmino of the UNLV William F. Harrah College of Hospitality.

“One of the things we know about Hard Rock Seminole is that they’ve been very successful in that [live music] space in Florida, and so it’s exciting to see them continue to bring that here. It counters this narrative we’ve been hearing for the last year that Vegas is dead and Vegas is dying… we’re continuing to see demand and increases for live entertainment,” Belarmino said.
Other documents submitted from 2025 to 2026 show renderings with various plans, from a 15-thousand square foot guitar-shaped pool, a guitar museum, and an 88,650-square-foot Strip-facing Sportsbook.
Belarmino tells FOX5 it’s no surprise that the Hard Rock leans into the brand with these possible additions; as Americans have seen from World Cup visitors, tourists want to experience something uniquely American, like rock n’ roll.
“Perhaps the way to attract international guests isn’t to try to replicate where they’re from, but to lean into the things that make us uniquely American, because that’s what they want to experience,” Belarmino said.
A spokesperson for the property tells FOX5 that Hard Rock did not have any updates to share.
Other documents show 3039 existing hotel rooms, with 646 in the guitar tower. The Hard Rock Hotel brand provides “affordable luxury” with expected mid-range prices for Las Vegas guests, Belarmino said.
Documents from 2025 show that the hotel plans to open in the fourth quarter of 2027.
