LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The LGBTQ+ Center of Las Vegas announced Wednesday it has acquired Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) and Golden Rainbow, integrating both organizations’ programs and services into a single system of care for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS throughout Southern Nevada.
The acquisition expands access to healthcare, housing assistance, behavioral health support and financial resources. Together, the three organizations represent more than a century of combined service to the community.

Leadership and staffing
AFAN Executive Director Antioco Carrillo will become The Center’s Chief Housing and Integrated Health Officer, leading the integration of services. All current AFAN and Golden Rainbow employees will join The Center.
“Every organization involved in this effort shares the same goal: improving lives,” said John Waldron, CEO of The Center. “By combining our strengths, we are creating a stronger, more sustainable system of care that will benefit individuals, families and the entire Southern Nevada community.”
About the organizations
AFAN and Golden Rainbow were established in 1984 and 1987, respectively, and have provided education, prevention services, medical referrals, transportation assistance, emergency financial support and housing programs. The Center has operated since 1993, delivering social services to the LGBTQ+ community and others seeking care and support.
Client benefits
The integrated organization is expected to provide:
- One-stop access to medical care, housing assistance, behavioral health support and financial resources through a coordinated system.
- Greater investment in direct client services.
- Stronger financial and operational infrastructure to sustain programs for future generations.
The unified organization also said it will be better positioned to compete for local, state and federal funding.
Recent expansion
The acquisition follows recent growth at The Center, including the opening of the Gavin J. Goorjian Community Health Center, expansion of behavioral health services and continued investment in programs for Southern Nevada’s most vulnerable populations.
“This is a tremendous win for our community,” Carrillo said. “It not only strengthens our collective ability to provide critical services but also allows us to preserve the legacies of AFAN and Golden Rainbow. Together, we are creating a stronger foundation for the future while ensuring clients continue receiving the support they depend on today.”
