LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Boulder City is proposing utility rate increases for electric, water and wastewater services over the next three fiscal years following a rate study and recommendations from the city’s Utility Advisory Committee, according to an announcement made by the city.
City documents say Boulder City is considering resolutions that would raise rates by up to 5% annually for fiscal years 2027 through 2029. The city said the proposed increases would apply across the board to electric, water and wastewater utilities.

According to the documents, the proposed adjustments could generate up to an estimated $1.458 million in additional annual revenue — about $925,000 for the electric utility, $393,000 for the water utility and $94,000 for the wastewater utility.
The city said revenue from the electric utility would help fund its capital program and future projects intended to support reliability of an aging electrical distribution system.
Water utility revenue would be used to begin addressing the water utility’s operating fund deficit as part of a multi-year financial stability strategy, and wastewater revenue would help fund the wastewater utility’s capital program and future capital projects, the city said.
According to the city, the consulting firm FCS Group conducted a comprehensive utility financial plan and rate study covering Boulder City’s electric, water and wastewater enterprises.
Residents and businesses who want to comment on the proposed rate increases must submit written feedback to the city by Aug. 13, 2026, according to the notice.
