LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer who shot and killed a Las Vegas homeowner after responding to reports of a home invasion has chosen not to return to the department, his attorney said.

Officer Alexander Bookman, who was not indicted for the killing of Brandon Durham inside his home, has resigned from his position within the police department, according to Bookman’s attorney, David Roger.

Roger said Bookman was eligible to return to duty but chose to resign.

This comes following a year after it was revealed he would not be indicted in the deadly shooting that occurred back in November of 2024.
