SACRAMENTO, Calif. (FOX5) — The Athletics have acquired right-handed pitcher Seth Johnson from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for outfielder Colby Thomas, the club announced Monday.

Seth Johnson
Johnson, 27, is 1-0 with a 5.51 ERA in 16 appearances for Philadelphia this season, striking out 20 batters while walking 14. Overall, he is 2-2 with a 7.18 ERA in 27 Major League games, including one start, all with the Phillies.
The North Carolina native was originally drafted by Tampa Bay in the first round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of Campbell University. He was traded to Baltimore in a three-team deal at the 2022 trade deadline before being dealt to Philadelphia on July 30, 2024.
Colby Thomas
Thomas, 25, was drafted by the A’s in the third round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft and is a .214 career hitter in 104 Major League games. He was most recently optioned by the A’s on July 31 after batting .202 with four home runs and 11 RBI in 55 games this season.
