LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District held a Back-to-School Slime Day event Tuesday, giving students and their families a chance to celebrate ahead of the new school year.
The event was held at the West Charleston Library and featured scavenger hunts, crafts, story time, and a touch-a-truck experience with Metro and the Clark County Fire Department.

The crowd favorite of the day was the opportunity for attendees to slime library staff.
Organizers said events like Slime Day serve as a reminder of what the library offers beyond books.
“Everybody knows that we’ve got the books, but when you come into our branches and you dive into a world of discovery, literally making slime here, adults, kids, teens, seniors, babies, they’re diving in with their hands,” said Ryan Simoneau with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. “You can see that learning come to life here at the library district. And that’s what we take a lot of pride in, being community hubs, safe spaces, welcoming environments for the community to come and learn all year long.”
Kids who attended also took home free backpacks filled with school supplies.
