LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A highly-anticipated court case involving the 1996 murder of hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur is prompting a Las Vegas court to launch a daily seating lottery to handle the massive crowd expected.
Duane “Keffe D” Davis is scheduled to stand trial starting Monday, August 10, on charges related to the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur.
Due to anticipated high public interest and limited courtroom space, the court is implementing a daily lottery system to distribute available seats in the main courtroom once a jury is selected.

Because prospective jurors will fill the courtroom during jury selection, public seating in the main courtroom cannot be guaranteed during this initial phase. Jury selection is expected to take several days.
Instead, the court will stream live video of the proceedings to an overflow room on the second floor of the Regional Justice Center. Overflow seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once jury selection is complete and main courtroom seats become available, members of the public wishing to attend must participate in the daily lottery.
To enter, attendees must arrive at the Room 2421 overflow room at least one hour before court begins each day. Marshals will escort selected winners to their assigned seats in the courtroom.
