LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Authorities are investigating after potential human remains were discovered Sunday at Lake Mead National Recreation Area, officials said.

Lake Mead officials say the report was made on Aug. 16 of the discovery at Boulder Beach.

National Park Service rangers and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene to secure the area and recover the remains.

No details regarding the identity of the individual, the state of the remains, or the suspected cause of death have been released.

The incident remains under investigation by federal and local authorities.
