LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A pedestrian was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Sunday after being struck by a U-Haul box truck on East Twain Avenue, according to investigators.
The collision happened at approximately 11:13 a.m. at East Twain Avenue and Royal Crest Street.

How the collision happened
Evidence at the scene, witness statements and surveillance video indicated the pedestrian was crossing northbound across East Twain Avenue at Royal Crest Street, outside of a marked crosswalk but within an implied crosswalk.
A 2014 General Motors Corp. Savana U-Haul box truck was traveling westbound on East Twain Avenue approaching Royal Crest Street. The collision occurred when the truck failed to avoid the pedestrian, who was crossing in the farthest right travel lane of westbound Twain Avenue.
The front of the truck struck the pedestrian, projecting the pedestrian onto the roadway as the truck came to a controlled stop.
Pedestrian hospitalized
Emergency medical services responded and transported the pedestrian to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. Medical personnel there determined the pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was admitted for continuous care.
Driver cooperates with investigation
The driver of the truck remained at the scene, showed no signs of impairment and cooperated with the investigation.
The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
