PAHRUMP, Nev. (FOX5) — Two Nye County Sheriff’s Office deputies have surrendered for booking after being arrested on warrants stemming from the in-custody death of a woman following a June vehicle pursuit, according to NCSO.
Pursuit and crash
On June 9, NCSO initiated a pursuit of a reckless driver, leading deputies at high speed north on Highway 160 from Highway 372. As the suspect vehicle approached Basin, it collided with two other vehicles.
The driver appeared uninjured from the crash and fled the scene on foot and was pursued by deputies before being taken into custody without further incident.
The driver was identified as Stevie Miller, 30, of Pahrump.

Booking and court hearing
Miller appeared to be under the influence of narcotics or alcohol and was taken to Desert View Hospital for a blood draw. She was then taken to the Nye County Detention Center, where she was booked on multiple charges.
On June 10, Miller was taken to Pahrump Justice Court for a hearing, where a judge ordered her held on bail.
In-custody death
Later on June 10, Miller was found unresponsive in her cell. Despite attempts from deputies, medical staff, PVFRS and Desert View Hospital, she was pronounced deceased at Desert View Hospital.
An administrative investigation and a criminal investigation began immediately as a result of the in-custody death.
Deputies arrested
The criminal investigation developed probable cause leading to an arrest warrant for two NCSO deputies.
On Aug. 23, NCSO investigators received the signed warrant from the judge and made contact with both deputies through their union representatives. Both deputies have surrendered for booking.
NCSO said there will be no further release of information on the case due to the ongoing criminal investigation and ongoing internal investigation.
