LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 1-year-old child reported missing from Elko County has been located in Las Vegas following an AMBER Alert issued Wednesday, according to the Elko County Sheriff’s Office.
The Elko County Sheriff’s Office received information on Aug. 26, 2026, that a child who had been residing in Elko County had been taken to Modesto, California, according to the sheriff’s office.
Allegations of child abuse, child neglect and domestic violence were filed with the Modesto Police Department and the California Department of Social Services, the sheriff’s office said. It was alleged the mother’s boyfriend, Donny Alichanh, had punched the 1-year-old child in the face and locked the child in a closet for long periods of time, according to the sheriff’s office.
Subsequent investigations by the Modesto Police Department indicated the mother, Rehanna De La Rosa, and her boyfriend had left the Modesto residence, the sheriff’s office said. There was information that the mother may have been traveling to a residence in Las Vegas or an unknown location in Mexico, according to the sheriff’s office.
Detectives were informed the mother and child did not show up at the family residence in Las Vegas, and it was reported the mother was no longer communicating with family and friends she frequently communicated with, the sheriff’s office said.
Mother misses court hearing
The mother was scheduled to appear in Elko District Court on Aug. 25, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. for an Ex-Parte Order for Immediate Temporary Guardianship and the Immediate Return of the Minor Protected Person to the State of Nevada hearing, according to the sheriff’s office. The mother did not appear for the hearing, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives attempted to contact the mother without success, according to the sheriff’s office. Detectives were informed the mother made additional statements that she could take her child to Mexico, and detectives learned the mother had changed her phone number, the sheriff’s office said.
According to the sheriff’s office, the mother’s actions indicated she knew law enforcement was attempting to contact her, she had a court hearing on Aug. 25, 2026, was attempting to conceal the child, and would continue to evade police contact. The sheriff’s office said there was great concern for the child’s immediate safety and well-being.
AMBER Alert issued, child located
An AMBER Alert was issued on Aug. 26, 2026, at approximately 4:22 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office. Shortly after the alert was issued, the Elko County Sheriff’s Office was notified the mother and child were in Las Vegas, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office met with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Nevada Department of Child and Family Services, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Elko County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Nevada Department of Child and Family Services to ensure the child’s continued safety, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives will continue to follow up on the investigation, which remains open and ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
