WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) – The Hawk Fire is now 93% contained and residents are returning to their homes.
Several areas under evacuation notices have had their status downgraded.
A stretch of the North Valleys from the intersection of East Golden Valley Road and North Virginia Street to White Lake are now being called Safe to Return To by Perimeter Map.

The fire burned 15,085 acres in Washoe County, according to a Wednesday, Aug. 26, evening Facebook post update on Official Hawk Fire Information.
About 570 firefighters are battling the blaze that has destroyed 47 homes and one commercial structure, according to Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue.
No deaths have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
