CARSON CITY, Nev. (FOX5) — A Northern Nevada fifth grader’s artwork will be seen across the state on this year’s Adventure Pass.
Nevada State Parks says “Starlit Skies,” designed by Montserrat Franco Hernandez, has been picked as the winning art for the 2026-2027 fifth grade Adventure Pass.

Hundreds of students submitted designs this school year, but Montserrat’s artwork rose to the top.
To celebrate, Montserrat and her family spent a day at Sand Harbor State Park. They received a special welcome from park staff and mascot “Carson Kit Fox.” Montserrat was given her own Adventure Pass to use through sixth grade.
Montserrat helps her dad care for horses and loves drawing. She said she wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.
The fifth grade pass program, created by AB 385, has given Nevada fifth graders free entry to all state parks since 2017. It covers July through the following August for students and their families.
