LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Clark County grand jury has indicted a man on murder and attempted murder charges in connection with an August shooting that killed a woman, according to court records.
Francisco Chairez-Hernandez was indicted on Aug. 21 on charges of murder with use of a deadly weapon, one count of attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon, one count of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of discharging a firearm at or into an occupied structure, according to court documents.

Hernandez is accused of attempting to kill Brad Serrano-Gutierrez, who was waiting at a bus stop in east Las Vegas. Instead, police say a stray bullet hit and killed Karla Abarca, who was eating ice cream nearby in her truck with her daughter.
Police add that Hernandez has been seen inhaling from a nitrous oxide can — commonly known as “whippets” — prior to the shooting.

The indictment states the shooting that killed Abarca was “willful, deliberate and premeditated.”
Hernandez is due back in court on Sept. 17.
