LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A pedestrian is dead after a van struck a parked landscaping trailer and hit him on East Mountridge Drive near North Hollywood Boulevard, according to police.
The crash happened at approximately 7:37 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1.

How the crash happened
A 2015 Ford F-150 with an attached landscape trailer was parked along the north curb of westbound East Mountridge Drive just east of North Hollywood Boulevard, police said. One pedestrian was on the left side of the trailer removing landscaping equipment, while a second pedestrian was retrieving equipment from inside the trailer, police said.
A 2017 Ford Transit van driven by Juan Manuel Acevedo, 29, of Las Vegas, was traveling westbound on East Mountridge Drive approaching the trailer, according to police.
Police said the van drifted to the right and struck the left rear of the trailer with its right front. The van then struck the first pedestrian, projecting him onto the roadway, before coming to a controlled stop, police said.
The second pedestrian sustained minor injuries when the van struck the trailer while he was inside it, police said.
Pedestrian taken to hospital
Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported the first pedestrian to UMC Trauma, police said. UMC medical personnel determined his injuries to be life-threatening, according to police.
On Monday, police officials say the 62-year-old man was pronounced dead by staff on Friday, September 5.
The identity of the second pedestrian is pending, police said.
Acevedo remained at the scene, showed no signs of impairment and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
