LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A man who used a fake boarding pass and assaulted four officers at Harry Reid International Airport has been sentenced to nearly three years in federal prison.
According to the Department of Justice, Jhon Raul Vizcaino Ramirez, a Cuban national with prior violent convictions who was on probation for assault with a deadly weapon, was sentenced to 33 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
Federal prosecutors had recommended a five-year sentence.
According to the DOJ, the incident occurred on Nov. 3, 2025, when Vizcaino Ramirez presented a TSA screening officer with a boarding pass under another person’s name in an attempt to reach the passenger boarding area. When he refused to provide identification, the agent held the boarding pass, prompting Vizcaino Ramirez to physically assault the officer.

As officers attempted to take him into custody, a violent struggle ensued. Court documents state Vizcaino Ramirez assaulted two TSA screening officers and two assisting Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers.
One officer sustained an injury that required surgery, said the DOJ.
Vizcaino Ramirez pleaded guilty to two counts of interference with security screening personnel, two counts of assaulting or resisting personnel assisting federal officers, and one count of entry by false pretenses into a secured airport area, according to the DOJ.
“The violent actions of this defendant directly threatened the safety of everyday travelers and the dedicated personnel who work tirelessly to secure our nation’s airways,” said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada. “Physical assault against our TSA and local law enforcement partners will be met with the full force of federal prosecution.”
TSA Administrator David P. Cummins commended checkpoint personnel and Metro police for their rapid response in securing the area.
The case was investigated jointly by TSA Investigations and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
