LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — An off-duty Las Vegas police corrections officer was hospitalized Monday night after a shooting on West Cheyenne Avenue, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers said they responded at approximately 8:43 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 7600 block of West Cheyenne Avenue, near Buffalo Drive. Arriving officers said they located one victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
During the investigation, police said they learned the victim was an off-duty LVMPD corrections officer.
The individual was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in “stable” condition, according to police.
Police said the shooter remains at large.
Authorities say it is an active investigation scene and urged the public to avoid the area.
