LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A woman is dead after being struck by a car while crossing a street in North Las Vegas on Thursday night.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred on East Lake Mead Boulevard at the intersection with North Pecos Road around 10:24 p.m. Officers at the scene determined that a woman attempted to cross East Lake Mead Boulevard in a marked crosswalk, but against a “Don’t Walk” signal. At the same time, a 2004 Acura TL was traveling westbound on Lake Mead Boulevard.

The front of the Acura struck the woman and knocked her to the ground.

Arriving medical personnel transported the woman to the University Medical Center Trauma Center for treatment, where she would later die.

The driver remained at the collision scene and did not show any signs of impairment, according to police.

“The pedestrian’s death marks the 42nd traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Section.”
