LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The man accused of shooting a neighbor outside his east Las Vegas home was previously convicted of manslaughter ten years prior, new report states.
Alexain Rodriguez-Navar is currently being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center. He faces charges of open murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, and firearm possession by a prohibited person.
According to an arrest report obtained by FOX5, police responded to a home near Vegas Valley and Nellis Boulevard just after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday following multiple reports of gunfire in the area.
Officers responded and located a man on the ground of a front porch area, along with several rifle cartridge cases in the street. Medical care was provided to the victim but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A man, later identified as Rodriguez-Navar, would later approach officers and surrender, the report stated.
Police checked inside the home for injured victims after noticing it had been struck by gunfire. Officers found two uninjured teenagers inside, later identified as the victim’s sons.
They told detectives they were playing video games when they saw their dad arrive home, only to hear gunfire moments later. Looking outside, they spotted Rodriguez-Navar holding a gun.
The teens barricaded themselves in a back bedroom until help arrived after spotting Rodriguez-Navar heading toward their house, the report says.
Home surveillance footage captured part of the encounter, which showed the victim walking up his driveway holding keys and a backpack when gunfire suddenly erupted.
The video also showed the victim glancing across the street and sprinting toward his front door before collapsing on the porch after being shot. A gunman appearing to be Rodriguez-Navar then steps from behind a parked vehicle and fires several more rounds into him at close range.
According to the arrest report, Rodriguez-Navar was previously convicted in Nevada of voluntary manslaughter with a deadly weapon in 2016. Following the shooting, he invoked his right to an attorney and refused to answer detectives’ questions.
Rodriguez-Navar is due back in court on September 28.
