LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Drivers in the central Las Vegas valley should prepare for overnight delays starting Sunday as state transportation crews begin a multi-year pavement preservation project on I-11 and U.S. Route 95.
The Nevada Department of Transportation announced work will kick off Sept. 27 along an approximately six-mile stretch between Martin Luther King Boulevard and West Lake Mead Boulevard.
Crews will work to repave the corridor to enhance safety and extend the roadway’s lifespan. The project also includes widening the southbound I-11 off-ramp at Jones Boulevard.

Initial construction will bring nightly lane restrictions from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., running Sunday evenings through Friday mornings from Sept. 27 through Dec. 1.
During those hours, both northbound and southbound I-11/U.S. 95 will be reduced to two lanes with shoulder closures between mile markers 37.5 and 43.8. Lane and shoulder closures will shift between the left and right sides of the freeway as work moves forward.
Speed limits will drop to 55 mph through active work zones.
NDOT urged motorists to slow down, exercise caution around road crews, and consider alternate routes.
Planned restrictions are shared through navigation apps like Waze, though schedules remain subject to change based on weather and other factors.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in winter 2027.
