LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A pedestrian was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a crash in west Las Vegas Thursday night, police say.

Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said a crash happened after 7 p.m. at Celeste Avenue and Torrey Pines Drive, near Alta Drive.

Police said a 2000 Honda CR-V was traveling southbound on South Torrey Pines Drive north of West Celeste Avenue. A pedestrian crossed South Torrey Pines Drive north of West Rochelle Avenue in a marked crosswalk, according to police.

The collision occurred when the driver of the Honda CR-V failed to see the pedestrian and stop, police said. The front end of the Honda CR-V struck the pedestrian’s right side, redirecting him south onto the roadway as the vehicle came to a sudden stop, according to police.

Emergency medical personnel transported the pedestrian, identified by police as 75-year-old Roland Bame, to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center, where he was admitted for continued life-saving care, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and was not impaired, according to police. A passenger in the vehicle was also not injured, police said.

The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
