LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A pedestrian was transported in critical condition after a crash near Jones Boulevard and Flamingo Road Thursday, police say.

Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the crash happened just after 8 p.m. at South Jones Boulevard and West Rochelle Avenue Thursday. It involved a pedestrian and a vehicle.

Police said a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC was traveling southbound on South Jones Boulevard north of West Rochelle Avenue. A pedestrian crossed South Jones Boulevard north of West Rochelle Avenue outside a marked or implied crosswalk, according to police.

The collision occurred when the pedestrian entered the southbound travel lanes and stepped into the path of the Mercedes-Benz, police said. The left side of the Mercedes-Benz struck the pedestrian, redirecting him onto the roadway as the vehicle came to a controlled stop, according to police.

Emergency medical personnel transported the pedestrian, a 42-year-old man whose name is pending notification, to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center, where he was admitted for continued life-saving care, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and was not impaired, according to police. Two passengers in the vehicle were also not injured, police said.

The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
