LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. honored Jeff Payne, founder and CEO of Driver’s Edge, with two tickets to the Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix 2026 during a press conference at the LVMPD Traffic Bureau on Oct. 19, according to a news release.

Lori Nelson-Kraft, senior vice president of community affairs for Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc., presented Payne with the tickets as part of the company’s Extraordinary Locals program, according to the release. The presentation took place during an event highlighting National Teen Driver Safety Week, which runs Oct. 18-24.

The event was hosted by Clark County and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to announce a valley-wide traffic safety initiative for Southern Nevada schools, funded by a $100,000 donation from Las Vegas Grand Prix, according to the release.

“Jeff’s work through Driver’s Edge has made our community safer and we are proud to honor his work and welcome him to this year’s race,” Nelson-Kraft said.

New safety measures announced

Clark County Commission Chairman Michael Naft and LVMPD Lieutenant Cody Fulwiler said the new safety measures align with Payne’s work, according to the release. The measures include a unified safety messaging system across Clark County School District and charter school families, school-zone safety tip sheets, electronic device guidance, tip sheets on updated Nevada traffic laws, and warning cards on parking regulations across local municipalities.

According to the release, motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of death for young people in America, and 427 children were involved in traffic crashes in Southern Nevada last year.

“As a lifelong Formula 1 fan and someone whose entire career has been shaped by motorsports, this recognition is incredibly meaningful to me,” Payne said. “Our missions align so naturally with a respect for performance, a focus on education, and a relentless commitment to community impact.”
