LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The City of Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup brought hundreds of teams from around the world, giving young players a shot at international competition and a chance to lift a trophy.
Tournament organizers say they have been running the Mayor’s Cup for about 22 years.
This weekend, they hosted 528 teams, with clubs from across the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Sweden and Colombia. Boys and girls ages 8 through 16 each played four games over the weekend.

“We have, over the course of our history, 45 different countries have come and played at the Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup. If you come to our fields, you’ll see the flags of everyone who’s ever represented at this tournament. So I think our international competition really, really attracts a lot of teams that want to play the best from around the world,” said Colin Tabor, tournament director.
About 60 division champions were crowned. Organizers say for many of these kids, standing on the stage with a trophy is a memory that lasts a lifetime.
