LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – On Tuesday at approximately 11 a.m., North Las Vegas police responded to an apartment on the 3400 block of Mercury St. after reports of a 31-month-old child not breathing.

Medical personnel took the child to University Medical Center Hospital for treatment, where the child was later pronounced dead. The identification of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

NLVPD detectives were notified and took over the investigation. Detectives identified the child’s uncle, 21-year-old Leo’oolo Tevaseu, as a suspect in this case. Tevaseu was booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center on charges of open murder and child abuse resulting in substantial bodily harm.
