LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Clark County School District announced the closure of the only elementary school in Mt. Charleston on Monday.
According to a parent letter obtained by FOX5, officials decided to close Earl B. Lundy Elementary School “due to the expense of rebuilding the school from the storms and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Hilary in August 2023.”
Officials say the closure is aligned with school district regulations and will be reviewed by CCSD Trustees in June.
Those attending Lundy Elementary will be reassigned to Indian Springs Elementary School.
“The Mount Charleston community would maintain a cohesive, feeder school alignment with the opportunity for siblings to attend the same school as the current middle and high school students assigned to Indian Springs Middle School and High School,” administrators noted in the letter.
This is a developing story, please check back later for updates.
