LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Clark County Division of Air Quality has issued a smoke alert in the area.
The alert is for Sunday, June 16 and Monday, June 17 due to wildfire smoke from the Post fire in California and from multiple wildfires in Arizona, with smoke from both drifting into the Las Vegas Valley.
Clark County said that smoke in the air can irritate those with respiratory diseases. The county said under the current conditions, it may be best for children, the elderly and those with respiratory and heart conditions to stay indoors.
Clark County offered the following tips during a smoke advisory:
- Stay indoors when you see or smell smoke.
- Keep windows and doors closed.
- Limit outdoor exertion on days with high levels of fine particles in the air. Exercise makes you breathe heavier and increases the amount of particulates you are likely to inhale.
- Consider changing your indoor air filters if they are dirty.
