LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded on Monday afternoon to a report of a “crucial emergency call” regarding a cyclist at approximately 1:25 p.m near Vegas Dr. and Rancho Dr.
The call came from a witness to the incident. He reported that a 60-year-old male hit something from a downed power pole while riding his bicycle. Police said the victim was electrocuted and taken to UMC Trauma.
A spokesperson for LVFR explained that the electrocution came from a blown fuse, not a power line, noting that it “doesn’t seem like a traditional electrocution,” although the victim suffered similar injuries.
NV Energy has been notified to make the necessary repairs. The cyclist’s injuries are minor and he is expected to make a full recovery.
