LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Monday marked one week since five people were killed and a teen was injured at an apartment complex in North Las Vegas.

59-year-old Damiana was killed, along with her daughter Amy and grandson Christopher. Amy’s 13-year-old daughter was critically injured.

Among the victims was 24-year-old Kayla Harris and her girlfriend 22-year-old Jeannette Faria-Webster.

The mother of Kayla Harris, Marshaya, speaks about her daughter who died in a shooting committed by her ex-boyfriend in North Las Vegas.

After a brief manhunt, the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of Kayla Harris’s mom Eric Adams.

Adams turned the gun on himself after a man hunt with police.

On Monday, Harris’s mom Marshaya spoke exclusively with FOX5 about what lead up to the deadly attacks.

On the evening of June 24th, Marshaya was done with work and was going home to the Craig Ranch Villas to her daughter Kayla and her girlfriend Jeanette.

“As I went inside he came in behind me,” Marshaya described as Adams followed her into her apartment. “I said you are not supposed to be here what do you want,” Marshaya asked Adams.

Adams told her he wanted “to talk.” Adams was not supposed to be there because records show Marshaya had a protective order against Adams since March.

“He said you are always riding me, you act like I’m not good enough for you, I said I’ve woken up, you are not. I been told you many months ago we are done, I’m done with you, can you please leave,” Marshaya told Adams.

However, Adams did not leave and Marshaya went to call the police when she heard arguing between Adams and Kayla. Marshaya said the argument followed after Adams called Jeanette derogatory names.

“Ill have the last laugh,” Marshaya described Adams telling her. Marshaya did not realize Adams would act on those haunting words. She said that is when Kayla and Jeanette went to the bed room to grab their things to play video games.

“Jeanette was bent over un zipping the book bag, he shot Kayla in the head, I just froze I couldn’t do anything it was like my feet was cemented to the ground my vision went black but I could hear myself say ‘what have you done what have you done and he said “they were reaching for a gun” and then he shot Jeannette and I said ‘Oh My God’,” Marshaya said.

“He said you thought I was playing and at that moment he took me by my neck, wrapped his arm around my neck and put the gun to my side, I could feel the barrel of the gun touching my ribs, “ Marshaya said. Marshaya said Adams then told her to not say a word and that they were going to be leaving.

” I said no no we have to call somebody. He said ‘oh you are telling me no’ he then put the gun to my head. I said ok ok I will do whatever,” Marshaya said.

Just as they were about to leave their apartment, Marshaya said there was a knock on the door.

That knock was from their upstairs neighbor Christopher who was supposed to play video games with Kayla. However, Marshaya tried to get Christopher to leave.

“I said, ‘please just go back upstairs and lock your front door’ but he said I want to see Kayla where is Kayla and Eric said ‘oh you want to see Kayla come in’ I’m trying to tell him no don’t come into my house,” Marshaya said.

However, Christopher did not listen and walked into the apartment with Adams and Marshaya walking behind him towards Kayla’s room, that is when Marshaya said Adams shot Christopher.

Adams then takes Marshaya outside, where they see Christopher’s mom Amy who was wondering why Marshaya was crying.

“I could not tell her I was so afraid,” Marshaya said. “She said Shay, do I need to call the police and I nodded my head and he said ‘Oh you are going to call the police on me’ she walked back upstairs and he followed her I just stood there , I couldn’t move I had no direction or vision, my feet were cemented to the ground.”

Adams shot and killed Amy, her mom Damiana and injured Amy’s 13-year-old daughter.

“He grabbed me and said lets go we got to get out of here. I said no I don’t want to go with you,” Marshaya said. Hours later, it was in the middle of the night and Marshaya found a way to escape. She described coming across a police officer during a traffic stop.

“I said I need help my whole family got killed,” Marshaya said. “She got help over there but it was too late.”

North Las Vegas police tell FOX5, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing

Marshaya is working on finalizing funeral arrangements for Kayla.

The family has set up a GoFundMe.
