LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. submitted his second bout of signatures to be put on the Nevada ballot.

Kennedy’s campaign previously submitted signatures to make the ballot, but was told they were invalid after he submitted the petition without a running mate listed.

The campaign was told it would have to gather signatures again to try and make the ballot as an independent candidate. The campaign said it submitted more than 30,000 signatures on Wednesday to the Secretary of State’s office.

“Nevada voters have spoken again to put Kennedy on the ballot for President in November,” said Nevada State Director Randell Hynes. “Gathering signatures for a second time gave us a unique perspective. We learned many more Nevadans knew Kennedy was running. We also had hundreds of thousands of face-to-face conversations we would not have had otherwise.”

In June, the Kennedy campaign announced it was suing the Secretary of State’s office over the petition. The Secretary of State’s office said they gave plenty of notice about the running-mate requirement.

“Our office has received no official communication from Mr. Kennedy’s campaign since the time our office sent that guidance,” the Secretary of State’s office said in June.

The Secretary of State’s office said candidates must submit their signatures in respective counties, who each conduct a count, before they are then submitted to the Secretary of State’s office for verification. Counties have four business days to submit their counts, then nine additional business days for signature verification before a final determination on if the petition is sufficient.
