LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A bicyclist is in critical condition after a crash in the east Las Vegas valley on Sunday night.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened on North Nellis Boulevard, north of East Bonanza Road around 7:46 p.m. Police identified a Roadmaster Mountain, Sport SX bicycle and a Honda Pilot as the vehicles involved in the crash.

On Sunday morning, police determined that the Pilot was traveling north on Nellis Boulevard in the left lane, while the bicycle was traveling west across Nellis, north of Bonanza. The two vehicles collided when the bicycle “darted” across the roadway in an “unsafe manner,” and was struck by the front-left corner of the Honda, according to police.

The bicyclist was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit, where he remains in critical condition. Police say the Honda driver remained at the scene, cooperated with the investigation, and did not show signs of impairment.

“This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section,” LVMPD noted in a release.
