LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Students at Cadwallader Middle School are remembering the victims of the 1 October shooting through a moving tribute of hand-crafted angel wings.
Unveiled on Wednesday, this year’s display features a pair of angel wings dedicated to each life lost in the tragedy. Though most of the students were too young to remember the October 1 tragedy when it occurred, school officials say the memorial has offered them a meaningful way to connect with community history and the resilience that followed.

“Before then, I hadn’t actually learned what this shirt was about. I thought it was just a slogan,” one student said. “But now I understand that the shirt and the people there represent the strength of community, even after something so terrible.”
School officials add that the installation was inspired by the Global Angel Wings Project, an international public art initiative that creates human-sized wings worldwide to symbolize hope, peace, and community strength.
