Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say it happened just before seven Wednesday morning at the intersection of Cimmaron and Desert Inn Roads. Officers say the young person was riding a bike at the time of the collision. Paramedics took them to UMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver did remain on scene, and did cooperate with police, but has been taken into custody for suspected impairment.

Metro asks drivers to avoid the area while officers complete their investigation.
