LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — With F1 coming in November and NASCAR’s South Point 400 coming in October, racing season is at its peak.
Guests can “Rev Your Engines for a Cause” like a NASCAR driver at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday from 8 to 11 p.m. at Laps for Charity. Speedway Children’s Charities Board Member Curt Russell and drivers will drive the same NASCAR track that the professionals will be driving.
“This is the exact same track that NASCAR will be on here. I believe it’s October 3rd and 4th this year, and it’ll be really going around this track.”
You can bring your street-legal car to the Motor Speedway, and for a donation of about $75 to $100, you can also ride around that NASCAR track under those bright lights. The experience is described as one like no other.
“It’ll feel like the same experience when you get to drive your own street car around this track. We go around 75 to 80 miles an hour. You hit these high banks and man, you feel like Dale Earnhardt reborn.”

All proceeds are given in grants to children’s charities all over Southern Nevada through Speedway Children’s Charities. Paulette Anderson, Director of Speedway Children’s Charities, says it is really meaningful work.
“Kids with critical medical social needs. We send kids to summer camp who aren’t able to go to certain camps because we need doctors on staff. We fill food pantries for disadvantaged families. Honestly, it sounds cliché, but they really are changing lives. We really are changing lives.”
Paulette says Speedway Children’s Charities gave away $494,000 to 98 children’s charities last December.
