LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A driver is in critical condition after a single-vehicle crash at East Tropicana Avenue and Paradise Road, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said.
Officers said a sedan with one person inside struck a light pole. The driver was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
Police later learned the same car had been involved in a minor hit-and-run at Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road. No injuries were reported in that earlier incident.
The LVMPD Traffic Bureau is investigating the crash.
The crash has caused major traffic disruptions in the area. Southbound Paradise Road is closed. Westbound Tropicana traffic is being diverted east onto University Center Drive, and eastbound Tropicana traffic is being diverted south onto Paradise Road.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area. Travelers headed to Harry Reid International Airport are advised to approach from the 215 to bypass the closures.
