LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Animazing Gallery at the Venetian has opened a new exhibit honoring Elvis Presley, featuring works of art, artifacts and memorabilia from the icon’s career, including several guitars Presley played on stage and in his films.
Artist reflects on Elvis’ influence
Resident artist Mel Balatbat, who contributed work to the exhibit, said Presley’s music was a fixture of his childhood.
“When my brothers and I were growing up, we had get-togethers at my uncle’s houses, and they always had Elvis playing,” Balatbat said. “And artwork, and it just brings me back to when I was a little kid growing up in the 70s. Brings back a lot of memories.”

Exhibit tied to historic Las Vegas anniversary
The exhibit coincides with the anniversary of the first of Elvis Presley’s 636 sold-out performances at the International Hotel — later the Las Vegas Hilton — on July 31, 1969.
The tribute to Elvis runs through August.
