LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – We are now hearing from the church after a North Las Vegas pastor was killed and a neighbor was arrested on scene last Friday.

Ty Neal, Pastor of Preaching and Vision at Grace Point Church, told FOX5 Pastor of Operations Nick Davi and his family were some of the first members at Grace Point Church on Ann Road. They moved from Mississippi in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.

Neal was overcome with emotion during Sunday service less than 48 hours after the loss of his best friend and brother in Christ.

“When you put a violent act like this in the same sentence with Nick, your mind just can’t process that,” shared Neal. North Las Vegas Police responded to a deadly shooting on Lookout Lodge Lane around 4:30 p.m. Friday inside the gated Courts of Aliante community.

“A neighbor that had been terrorizing him and Sarah and the kids. They couldn’t even feel safe in their own home, and they left for a few weeks, and they were back retrieving somethings and the lady shot him,” Neal explained. He lives nearby and happened to be outside.

“I heard pops and it is normal to hear fireworks car backfire, sometimes gunshots, it is normal. You don’t think much about it,” Neal recounted. Neal went inside and then his phone rang.

“Another pastor from Grace Point Church called and had said that Nick and Sarah had been shot,” Neal said. Sarah survived. Nick died at UMC. Not only was Nick part of church leadership, Neal shared he was a marine biologist who worked at the Mirage, passionate about helping animals and people.

A GoFundMe account (https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-davi-family-in-las-vegas) has been set up so others can help his family in their time of greatest need.

“Sometimes suffering and tragedy is what is used in life in order to bring and draw people together and to love one another well,” Neal contended.

The memorial service for Pastor Davi will be Monday, January 15 at 1 p.m. at Grace Point Church. At least 1,000 people are expected to attend.

The suspect in Davi’s murder is 36-year-old Joe Junio. She faces charges of open murder, attempted murder, and two counts of child abuse and/or neglect involving a deadly weapon. Junio is due in court on Monday morning.
