LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — July 30th is remembered by some as one of the coolest days in Las Vegas Valley’s history.
On this day back in 2016, T-Mobile Arena saw its first ice installed ahead of the Vegas Golden Knight’s first season.
Transforming the arena’s cocreate floor into a hockey rink was a painstaking process that involved building up the ice layer-by-layer, and painting it with official logos and lines. When all of that was complete, it still had to be tested and proven ready for the pros.
T-Mobile opened several months before the ice went in, but its installation marked the arena’s transition into an official hockey venue.
